The OceanXplorer is more than a ship.

It's a floating laboratory, a filmmaking studio, and a deep-sea launchpad all in one.

Each of its decks, labs, and vehicle components are designed to push the boundaries of exploration, accelerating ocean understanding and inspiring the next wave of ocean advocates to help build a future where the ocean and humanity thrive – together.

Ship Features

Science Labs

Equipped with cutting-edge tools for genetics, microscopy, and deep-sea sample analysis, OceanXplorer’s wet and dry labs give scientists everything they need to study ocean life and ecosystems without ever leaving the vessel.

Submersibles

OceanXplorer’s two Triton submersibles, Nadir and Neptune, allow scientists to descend into the deep with unmatched clarity, enabling close observation of marine life and collecting delicate biological and geological samples.

Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs)

The Argus ROV system allows for deep-sea exploration at depths up to 6,000 meters, bringing back samples, video footage, and data from places humans cannot reach.

Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV)

The Otter USV accesses shallow or hazardous environments where the ship cannot go, using sonar, LiDAR, and 360-degree cameras to map reefs, glaciers, and coastal zones with remarkable precision.

Helicopter

OceanXplorer’s onboard helicopter supports scouting, tracking marine life, and capturing aerial perspectives, enhancing the scope and speed of every mission.

Dive Center

OceanXplorer’s Dive Center is the the hub for shallow-water exploration. Here, divers are equipped for vital research missions, conducting large-scale surveys of delicate marine ecosystems and vibrant coral reefs.

Mission Control

Mission Control is the heart of OceanXplorer's operations. Here, the ship’s cutting-edge OpenVDM platform acts as the vessel’s central nervous system, processing and synthesizing data from deployed instruments.

OceanXplorer Missions

OceanX missions are groundbreaking ocean expeditions aboard the OceanXplorer that combine advanced science, technology, and collaboration to deepen understanding of the ocean and drive solutions for its protection and sustainable use.
